"Jack & The Soy Beanstalk" continues to grow!
We are so excited over here at Team Wide Eyed. Jack and the Soy Beanstalk, a young audience favorite at The New York International Fringe Festival in 2009, was recently published by Baker's Plays and is now available for purchase on Amazon! Many, many happy congratulations to our resident playwright Jerrod Bogard, composer and company member Sky Seals and composer Emily Fellner. Here's hoping that this lovely story reaches many generations of young theatregoers to come.

modern renaissance men
Was it luck or kismet that brought actors/playwrights Jerrod Bogard and Nat Cassidy together in our upcoming production of Henry VI (Part III)? We'll leave you to muse upon that while listening to the recent podcast they did for nytheatrecast, the voice of nytheatre.com. In addition to discussing their work as playwrights, they talk about Henry at length.
And speaking of Henry VI, we moved from our rehearsal space into the East 13th Street Theatre this very afternoon. At this moment, our diligent load-in crew is hanging lights and wallpapering the back wall of the theatre with a fantastic effigy of Henry V watching over the realm he left to his son. This gigantic poster will be torn down bit by bit so that by the final performance only shreds of what was the previous monach's legacy remains. It promises to be a fantastic evolving and organic statement - one worthy of multiple viewings (or as Nat Cassidy says, Come early and come often).

Noah’s Arkansas is a heartfelt family drama asking, “What do you save when the water starts to rise?” Wayne Riggins loves his small-town life. He lives in a sweet double-wide trailer with his beautiful second wife, goes fishing with his father, and sees his teenage son three months every summer. But the flood of change is coming, and Wayne has to learn how to swim right fast if he wants to save everything from just washing away.

Review - Jerrod Bogard's Noah's Arkansas
Noah's Arkansas by Jerrod Bogard is Wide Eyed Productions first original full-length play. Jerrod is our first resident playwright and this play is four-years in development. From staged readings to the lab and back again- Noah's Arkansas is the culmination of countless hours of theatrical dedication. Wide Eyed Productions will present the World Premiere of Resident Playwright, Jerrod Boggard's Noah's Arkansas, April 21-May 15 at the Wings Theatre (154 Christopher Street). Jerrod Boggard has previously written Hugging the Shoulder (semi-finalist O'Neill Playwrights Conference) and The Spin Cycle (published in "Plays and Playwrights 2010"). This is Wide Eyed's third theatrical season in NYC, and Noah's Arkansas is the company's tenth full-length production under founding artistic director Kristin Skye Hoffmann. Wide Eyed Productions was also named a 2009 Person Of The Year by nytheatre.com.

JERROD BOGARD (Playwright) is the Resident Playwright of Wide Eyed Productions. A graduate of Florida School of the Arts, Bogard began his show business career as a puppeteer for Bits ‘N Pieces in Tampa, FL. Bogard has written, directed and performed productions for children and adults all around the U.S. and Europe and taught workshops on improvisation and classical theatre styles at grade schools and colleges across the country; Performed an original shadow puppet show at the Prague International Festival of Puppet Arts in the Czech Republic; Wrote and directed the short film Gatorman (Best Mini-Picture- Bare Bones International Film Festival). His plays have been produced in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia. Plays written include: Plays for the Sunni Triangle (Winner "Most Outstanding Script" - Endtimes Productions, NYC); Hugging the Shoulder (semi-finalist O'Neill Playwrights Conference). In Sheep's Clothing (Best Play Nominee - Strawberry One-Act Festival), Jack and the Soy Beanstalk (music by Sky Seals). He has been published in Smith & Kraus' one-act anthology 2009, and the New York Theatre Experience has just published a collection of his one-act plays, The Spin Cycle, in their annual anthology "Plays and Playwrights 2010". In a review of that collection, editor Martin Denton called Bogard "a welcome addition to the panoply of American Playwrights, and certainly one to keep an eye on." Directing credits also include Grease, You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown, Company, and Joint Custody.
